The Glenmorangie Signet is a single-malt Highlands whisky. It boasts a twice-distilled process through copper-pot stills by the ‘Sixteen Men of Tain’, the team of 16 Glenmorangie distillers. Maturation takes place in custom American virgin oak casks before bottling at 46% with no chill-filtration for at least 35 to 40 years. The name ‘Signet’ refers to the square design of the Pictish artefact – the Hilton of Cadboll Stone – on the bottle and dates to 800AD. The Glenmorangie Signet is the result of incredible innovation over decades of hard work, so it isn’t surprising that it won Best Whisky of the Year 2016. The same year Glenmorangie’s Master of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden, was awarded Master Distiller of the Year at the 2016 International Whisky Competition. The whisky colouring is mahogany, with a sweet hibiscus and orange scent on the nose. The dark chocolate tasting is accompanied by the strength of tobacco and tiramisu.
Signet's unique velvet explosion has been created using 'high roast' malted barley to draw out rich flavours from the raw ingredients, making it a prized choice for any collector. A chocolate coffee malt that offers tantalising aromas and flavours never experienced before in a whisky.
Nose: Chocolate raisins, caramelised fruit peels, toasted spices, Angostura bitters, bread pudding, golden syrup.
Taste: Cinnamon, dried malt, chocolate, citrus, lychees, dates, tobacco leaves, roasted espresso beans, honey nuttiness.
Finish: Dried malt, truffle oil.
