The World of Whisky is a specialist whisky store in Double Bay, Sydney, offering a complete whisky experience.
World of Whisky stocks a range of over 900 different expressions from all regions of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, USA, Canada, India, Israel, Netherlands and Japan. The majority of the whiskies are single malts, but there is also a selection of blends, grain whisky, bourbons and ryes.
The shop stocks several brands not currently available elsewhere in Australia, as well as the labels one would naturally expect to see in a whisky store. World of Whisky has hosted over 12,000 people at in-store tasting events since 2010. Our team of experienced whisky specialists is available for corporate and private events in-store or at your chosen venue.
World of Whisky also started and organised The Whisky Show, the largest whisky consumer show in Australia, held in Sydney and Melbourne.
One of the founding partners of WOW, Ivan was relatively new to the whisky world but has since made up for it over the last 10 years. It has a become a particular passion and he likes nothing better than finding the right whisky for everyone, be it for a gift, collector, investor, general everyday quaffer, newbie or old-hand. He thrives on tracking down the hard-to-find unicorns and Dead Soldiers.
Whisky is my consuming passion which started some 25 years ago whilst still living in South Africa. An old family friend who had the single largest collection of whiskies in Africa invited me to a tasting and I was hooked. Since then I have been involved in all aspects of the industry but I leave distilling to the experts. I just enjoy visiting the distilleries Whilst I have great love for all whiskies (both with and without an "e") my current preference is for full Sherry cask matured single malts.
Rob started out slinging cocktails in various bars around NSW, designing his own recipes for bar menus and competitions. His Whisky debut saw him pouring drams at the newly refurbished Webster's, Newtown circa 2016, but a growing passion and keen palette lead him eventually to join the opening team of The Doss House, a recently opened and highly successful whisky bar located in Sydney's Circular Quay. The Doss House is renowned for its extensive international whisky collection, knowledgeable bartenders and curated whisky experiences. Rob would later move on to work exclusively with the good stuff at World of Whisky, Double Bay. His love for whisky crosses international borders and mash bills, usually preferring a heavily peated Scotch but happy to sink corn and rye with the best of them. His favorite drop so far has been the Kilchoman Port Cask.
