The Bunnahabhain distillery on Islay is located on the north of the island, with Caol Ila as its only neighbour. Situated on the coast of the Sound of Islay, it's protected from the fierce winds blowing in from the Atlantic ocean. pronounce Boon-a-havn, meaning rivermouth - was built in 1880/1881 by a partnership which was incorporated in 1882 as the Islay Distillery Co.
